Tuesday Crossfit

I love Crossfit on Tuesdays. Since my schedule for Crossfit is Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday (only occasionally varied), on Tuesdays I am coming off two days of rest from Crossfit. In addition, my Sunday and Monday exercise schedule tends to be fairly light with my Kung Fu classes concentrated on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. As a result, I generally show up at Crossfit on Tuesdays bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, full of energy, and feeling like I have a kid-body again. After warm-ups, I’m bouncing and bursting, on a high.
Then, almost inevitably, I overdo it. Either I will decide to PR on some lift or set a new personal benchmark on some bodyweight exercise (usually some kind of pull-up or chin-up variant, my favorites). Or I might attack the WOD with heavier than usual weights or faster than normal reps. Or I might do all of the above. Of course, by mid-afternoon the next day, I am cursing myself (although also perhaps still beaming with personal pride over some PR) as the price of my exuberance sets in. By the time Thursday Crossfit rolls around, I am no longer feeling shiny and new. On Saturday, I am bearing the weight of my years and only make it through the WOD buoyed by some extra morning sleep. Sunday, Monday, I slowly repair.
Then comes Tuesday, and I do it all over again. I love Crossfit on Tuesdays.
